Neighborhood Security

Neighborhood Security

In order to be effective, neighborhood security requires the participation of the entire community. The Board of Directors must choose the most appropriate type of security for the community without draining the budget of the homeowners association. Some communities provide gated access while others hire security companies. These options can come with a high cost to the community. One of the more economical options for those concerned with safety of the community is the neighborhood watch program. The neighborhood watch program requires little to no cost to the community. The neighborhood watch program teaches neighbors how to identify potential crime in the community and report to police. Many of the first crimes reported to police in a community come from your neighbors. Your local law enforcement agency will provide learning kits, tools, and training to those communities interested in starting a program.
