Free Legal Services in Utah

Question:

Are there free legal services available for community HOA members who have lost significant value and enjoyment of their home because their volunteer HOA Board was not aware that community HOA laws existed, did not have Articles of Incorporation or Bylaws, did not follow the CC&RS, and illegally approved a home build in our HOA?

In addition to that, when they were alerted to their illegal actions, their HOA lawyer provided controlling documents after our official document request without noticing that the Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws were missing and then threatened to us if we continued in our pursuits calling our actions capricious.

We have already lost so much. We would rather not lose more in trying to fight our HOA board.

Thank you!

Answer:

Hi Chantal,

The Utah Legal Services may provide free legal services to low-income individuals for non-criminal cases. The Utah State Bar may also offer free or low-cost legal services.
