Is an Annual Meeting Required in Texas HOA?

Question:

Can an HOA not hold annual meetings and have no residents as members on the board?

Answer:

Hi Milissa,

Section 209.014 requires HOAs to hold at least one annual meeting of their members. Homeowners may demand an annual meeting within 30 days of the demand if the HOA board doesn’t call for one. As for board members, Texas law doesn’t specify any requirements. As such, even non-residents or non-members can join the board. That said, make sure to check your governing documents to see if your HOA has any specific requirements to become a board member.
