Question:
Some guidance, please?
We’re an HOA with a limited budget.
A number of our members want to try to make some changes to our by-laws…
before putting great effort into prep for a lawyer, could you possibly give me
ball park figures for
-reading of bylaws (previously professionally prepared and registered), 8pgs.
-reading, preparing entries.
-very simple–as name change
-“complex” as changing voting procedures
-submission of Affadavit Amendment to Coounty Registry.
Project may hinge on funds available to engage lawyer for possibly
a certain number of the possible 15 changes.
Thank you,
– Steve
Answer:
Hi Steve,
Legal costs for amending HOA bylaws in New Hampshire can vary based on the complexity of the amendments and attorney fees. For a straightforward review of an 8-page document and preparation of simple changes, such as a name change, costs might range from $100 to $300, excluding attorney fees.
More complex amendments, like altering voting procedures, could incur higher expenses due to the need for detailed legal scrutiny. Additionally, filing an Affidavit of Amendment with the County Registry will involve specific filing fees, which vary by county. To minimize costs, it’s advisable to consult with a local attorney familiar with New Hampshire’s HOA laws to obtain a precise estimate tailored to your association’s needs.
