Question:
I am looking for information on registering my new board.
– Judy
Answer:
Hi Judy,
In Missouri, there is no statewide requirement for an HOA board to register with a government agency, but certain filings may still be necessary depending on your association’s legal structure. Most HOAs operate as nonprofit corporations, which means they must register with the Missouri Secretary of State and file annual reports to maintain their corporate status.
If you are talking about the Corporate Transparency Act, reporting companies are not currently required to file beneficial ownership information with FinCEN (as of February 9, 2025). Reporting companies may continue to voluntarily submit beneficial ownership information reports, free of charge, using FinCEN’s E-Filing system. You can find more information about how to file your BOI with FinCEN here.
