Architectural Approval Taking Too Long

Question:

Why it is taking so long to get approval for 2 windows?
My husband and I submitted the required form in the Town Square portal over a month ago, to have 2 new windows installed in our home. I have not received any correspondence in my email nor through the portal. We purchased the windows in August and know they match what is already here, at Central Park Townhomes in Aurora. We have followed protocols and don’t understand why it is taking so long to get approval.
Please respond at your earliest convenience (or asap).

Answer:

Hi Julie,

Kindly review the governing documents to understand the timeline of your association’s architectural approval process. This may help you know what to expect when it comes to the association’s timeline. The board or architectural committee may have a backlog of work and approvals on their plate.

However, if the approval/denial is past due, you may contact your association board and exhaust all channels of communication including phone calls and text messages to follow up on your request. If the board is unresponsive, you may attend a board meeting to raise the issue.

Alternatively, you may also call a special meeting to raise your concerns. According to the Colorado Common Interest Ownership Act Section 38-33.3-308(1), homeowners with 20% (or any lower percentage as specified in the bylaws) of the votes may call on a special meeting.

Finally, if the board remains unresponsive, you may opt to remove the problem board member(s). Section 38-33.3-303(8) states that homeowners may remove board members with or without cause by a 60% vote of all persons present and entitled to vote at a meeting with a quorum.
