Board Member Refuses to Accept Election Results

Question:

We have a board member that is refusing to accept recent election results and will not let a newly elected board member look over the financial books or be involved in any board activities.
What can we do?

– Christopher

Answer:

Hi Christopher,

It is important that board members band together and stand firm against this rogue board member. Reiterate the election results and let them know of the duties and rights that board members have, which generally include access to the association’s books and participating in board activities. If that does not work, it may be worth considering removing that problem board member to allow for a smoother flow and less hostile environment.
