Board Nomination Disqualification

Question:

On April 3 @ 12:20am, I emailed all 5 Board members of my intent to run in our upcoming Board election. Deadline was April 3.
April 4: I received email indicating my submission was invalidated as I did not follow the instruction to send submission to the specified gmail address, listed in our Notice/Minutes, that all 5 Board members have access to.

Is this a valid reason to disqualify my intent?

The HOA may disqualify nominations that do not follow the election procedures outlined in the governing documents. Kindly review them to verify whether the disqualification is valid or not.
