Calculation of HOA Fees After Purchasing Adjoining Lots

Question:

I legally combined my 2 lots in 2003. I built a house in the center. All documents were approved by the existing HOA at the time. I have paid one HOA fee. for the past 20 years.
Why am I now being told by the newly elected board that I must pay HOA fees for two lots?

I voiced my grievance. Tough crap. PAY UP!!

Past practice means nothing?

Answer:

Hi Patricia,

According to the Pennsylvania Uniform Planned Community Act Section 5314(b)(d), HOA assessments are computed according to the common expense liability allocated to each unit. If there is a reallocation of common expense liabilities, the assessments are also recomputed according to the reallocated common expense liabilities. Kindly check with the board and the governing documents if the reallocation was done properly.
