Can a Homeowner Deny HOA Landscaping Services?

Question:

I live in a HOA community that has contracted a landscaping company that destroys the landscaping. I dread their weekly “maintenance” in the community. Do I have the right to deny them access to my property?

Answer:

Hi Isabel,

It is best to raise your concern with your HOA board. Let them know that you dislike the way the landscaping company handles your landscaping. Then, make a request to leave your property out of their to-do list. It is important to remember, though, that the landscaping responsibility may fall on you instead. That means you will have to comply with the landscaping guidelines of your HOA and even make your landscaping appear uniform and consistent with the rest of the homes.
