Can a Renter Vote in Montana?

Question:

Does a renter have the right to vote on Homeowners ballots for elections over the owner of the unit?

– Debby

Answer:

Hi Debby,

It depends on your governing documents. Generally speaking, though, only homeowners are allowed to get a vote. That said, your HOA might allow proxy voting. In that case, the owner of the unit can appoint the renter as a proxy.
