Question:
My HOA plans to replace a gate between 2 multi-unit structures with a fence that will block access to the wooded open space behind me.
I worry that in the event of a fire in the open space, firefighters won’t be able to use this access point.
Do the owners have any right to prevent the HOA from blocking this opening?

Answer:
Hi Janelle,
Check your governing documents to see if owners have a say when it comes to such a modification. You may also want to check your local laws and ordinances when it comes to fire safety if that is a concern of yours.
