Christmas Lights in Texas HOA

Question:

I have owned property here at Woodvine Park Condominium’s and their are 8 Units in my building (1,204ft) each. For years the Board and Management Company have allowed these two owners have year round Christmas lights and string patio lights that are left plugged in cdeeWhat is the most effective way to make these lights go away so I can sleep at night? They have them inside and out everywhere. This is a beautiful property and I’ve owned two units in 36yrs. I want to be safe and I don’t feel safe at all. Help!

Answer:

Hi Sandra,

If your governing documents (CC&Rs or operating rules) restrict Christmas lights or only allow them during certain times of the year, point this out to your HOA board and neighbors. Your HOA board should enforce this rule if it exists. It is always best to speak to your board first about a problem before pursuing other actions.
