My daughter lives in a condo in Columbia Heights, Mn. There is a water leakage issue in the common area – a hallway between the garages & her condo wall. Now there’s mold & it’s seeped into her entry closet . The HOA has been contacted numerous times in the last 8 weeks & no response. Now my daughter has respiratory problems- breathing, coughing, headache, etc.
How can she get the HOA to take responsibility & fix this problem?

Check the condo’s governing documents to determine maintenance responsibilities and what your daughter can do to take action. Exhaust all forms of communication when submitting a complaint to the board. She might also want to approach the condo manager, if any, to file her complaint. If board members aren’t doing their job, it may be worth considering removing them from office. Beyond that, it is best to seek help from a lawyer.
