Deadline for HOA Response to Architectural Request in Texas

Question:

I submitted a home improvement request to my HOA, I have submitted the request over 30 days ago, but have not received a formal response to approve/deny the request. Does the HOA have a time limit to respond? and if they do not respond in a timely manner, what’s my course of action for moving forward?

Answer:

Hi John,

Check your governing documents, specifically your CC&Rs. Your CC&Rs might provide a time requirement or deadline for the HOA board or architectural committee to respond to an owner’s architectural request. If this deadline is not met, approach your HOA board or architectural committee to find out what happened. If no such deadline is outlined in your CC&Rs, consider following up on your request at the next board meeting. You may also want to contact your board or architectural committee directly. Something might have delayed their response.
