Denying Request for a Weather Camera

Question:

I as the board of our Hoa if I could install a weather station with a weather camera on the chimney of my house. The camera and station has 24/7 access to anyone to see. They said they would conduct a survey of the community and make their decision based on the survey. The request was voted on in the minutes and recorded. One week later they denied my request. Am I entitled to a survey?

Answer:

Hi Thomas,

The HOA board can generally undo a prior decision. However, considering this is an architectural change request, most HOA boards would need to provide the homeowner with a reason for denying the request. You should check your association’s governing documents to see how your HOA’s architectural review process works and whether or not the board can reject your request without reason.
