Question:
I’ve been asking my HOA to fix the towing service in my neighborhood. I attended a hoa meeting where I spoke with the board and the company that manages the neighborhood and I was told it would get fixed. A few months have gone by and we haven’t received anything from them about the parking situation, so I emailed the management company and they told me that it hadn’t been discussed with the board and then I should attend a meeting. What should I do ? I’ve already been to a meeting and asked them to fix the problem.

Answer:
Hi Oscar,
It sounds like you have already taken proactive steps by attending a board meeting and addressing the issue with the management company, but your concerns still haven’t been addressed. Since you’ve already voiced your concerns in person and via email without much progress, it may be helpful to follow up in writing again, emphasizing the ongoing nature of the problem.
In your email, you can reference your previous conversations and meetings, and request an update on the specific steps the board and management company plan to take. This creates a documented record of your attempts to resolve the issue.
If you feel that the problem is still not being resolved after your follow-up, consider requesting a formal agenda item at the next HOA meeting. In some cases, it may be helpful to gather support from other neighbors who share your concerns, as collective feedback can sometimes prompt quicker action. Additionally, you could also review the HOA’s governing documents, such as the CC&Rs and bylaws, to ensure that the towing situation is clearly outlined and that the board is fulfilling its obligations.
