How Quickly Should an HOA Board Provide Records?

Question:

As a homeowner, I requested to see current bank & brokerage statements of our HOA in Penna. Was advised I can make the request only at a monthly board meeting, rather at any time. Though I could not find this rule in our by-laws, in how many days should I receive this info? Thanks.

Answer:

Hi Roger,

The Pennsylvania Uniform Planned Community Act currently does not address the length of time an HOA board must provide records to owners upon request. Section 5316 simply states that these records “shall be made reasonably available for examination by any unit owner and authorized agents.”
