Meeting In Person vs Via Teleconference

Question:

My HOA conducts meetings by phone using “zoom”. I don’t know how to use it and furthermore don’t want to. Do I have any rights concerning my wish to have a meeting in person?

– Rick

Answer:

Hi Rick,

According to the Davis-Stirling Common Interest Development Act Section 4090(b), notices of teleconference board meetings shall identify at least one physical location so that members of the association may attend, and at least one director or a person designated by the board shall be present at that location. This may mean that the HOA should specify a physical location where members can attend and watch the Zoom meeting together. You may raise this with the HOA board.
