Owner Spreading Lies About HOA Board

Question:

How do I protect myself against a Home owner who is making up lies about the things I’ve said in my role as HOA board president?
I have tried to give this HO info on lein affidavit and there seems to be a misunderstanding as I never said the board would put a lien on her home. The only things I said was the roofer couldn’t do her roof without her signing the building permit and that she would have to tell her neighbors that she shares the building with.

Answer:

Hi Lisa,

The best way to fight false information is to remain transparent. Using official and written documentation, make the situation clear to the homeowner. It is normal for owners to react negatively when they feel that they have been wronged. As a board member, remember to remain calm and approach the situation with professionalism.
