Parking an RV in the Driveway in Nevada

Question:

We would like to buy a home in an HOA neighborhood. They are saying that our ford transit t250 is an rv and can’t be parked in the neighborhood. It meets their size limit of what can be parked in the driveway and is too tall for the garage or we’d park it there. It’s a public street so can we have as a backup that we can park in the street? We’d prefer driveway but if they say no…. It’s not registered or insured as an rv. They just are defined as rv because it has a bed and a roof fan.

Thank you!

Answer:

Hi Callie,

Make sure to check the governing documents of the HOA. The governing documents should be able to tell you whether or not you can park your vehicle in your driveway. Keep in mind that HOAs don’t generally have authority over public streets, as those are owned by the local government. That being said, you should check local ordinances to see if public street parking is permitted.
