Raising of HOA Fees in Connecticut

Question:

When the condo board wants to raise our common fees, what laws are in place to govern this.

– Alan

Answer:

Hi Alan,

Kindly refer to your governing documents as the CC&Rs often dictate how much an HOA can increase its dues and assessments. They may also indicate the due process an HOA must take when increasing HOA fees. The governing documents are legally binding as long as they do not contradict local, state, or federal laws.

Aside from this, the Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act may have provisions regarding the increase of HOA fees.
