Reviewing Meeting Minutes on Finances

Question:

As a homeowner in an HOA, do I have a right to see the minutes of meetings re: finances?
Thank you.

Answer:

Hi Gerard,

According to the Pennsylvania Uniform Planned Community Act Section 5308(e), a recorded meeting via audio or video technology must be maintained and available for the unit owners no less than 6 months after the meeting. Section 5316(a) also states that all financial and other records shall be made reasonably available for examination by any unit owner and authorized agents. It may also be helpful to review your governing documents to verify the rules regarding record inspection. Generally speaking, the minutes of executive sessions may not be available for review.
