I’m a board member of an HOA for a small townhome community in Virginia. Our management company is about 50+ miles away from us. Our emails and maintenance requests to them are usually not handled in a timely manner. In your opinion, would it be a better option to have a local HOA management company that we could connect better with? Thanks.

If location and a timely response are important to your HOA, especially if late action is affecting your operations, it may be better to switch to a company that’s closer to your community. However, the decision rests entirely on your board.
