Switching to a New Service in Texas

Question:

Our Texas HOA (85 households) elected a new board of directors and ended our 6-year use of RealManage company. The directors now use “Bookkeepers, LLC,” which has sent letters giving ways to pay quarterly dues. This “company” has no BBB rating and no web footprint whatsoever. We no longer seem to have a website or any of the services provided in the past by RealManage. How an we respond to this situation? We have no contact telephone numbers or emails.

Answer:

Hi Rebecca,

It would help to first ask your HOA board for more information about the company and why the switch happened in the first place. Perhaps your association has switched to a new service due to budget constraints. It is always a good idea to first approach your board with any concerns. You should also check your governing documents to see if there are any provisions about hiring management companies or using certain software.
