Unclear HOA Board Membership and Maintenance Problems

Question:

Two women are claiming to be board members they were never even nominated. The woman acting as president. She think she is is left over from 2022.

They’re draining our bank accounts, until yesterday they have not attended to a very serious matter in my unit, sewage stopper back up and flooding. I’ve had to hire the plumber twice. I’m out of pocket I requested that they hire someone and get it remedied the plumber said it was most likely outside my unit since they had cleared it twice..

Not only did they not address my plumbing issues yesterday, October 3 I have the roof pressure washed in the rain. The cost of the pressure washing is unknown to the homeowners not an approved budget item and the plumbing issue was later address by someone I could not find registered in the state of Washington I double checked and called they couldn’t find . With no money left in the account well, not enough to cover three months expenses and making errors on XL spreadsheet. When the answer is auto populated, the numbers have been massaged.

One woman stated that there assessment. And rumored they were intentionally going to increase the dues.! I’m not against the increase in dues. If it’s going to benefit the homeowners in the form of a legitimate repairs!

Today I spoke with the vice president of the bank. They informed me that the other two women that are ordering all this work to be done are not on the bank account only the immediate pass president ! This is 55+ Community, we are all living on a fixed income with the exception of the two Runamuck investors. Ordering repairs not in the budget. And they can’t even keep the courtyard watered. We have six mature plants 5 feet high that are dead others. The same size are with the ring. I know they’re just plants, but that gives you an idea of the gross negligence.

Answer:

Hi Linda,

You may ask the HOA for a record of the list of current officers and board members. You may also review the latest election records. This should help clarify whether the two women in question are truly part of the board. If they are not board members, you may file a complaint with the HOA.

However, if they are board members, you may raise your concerns regarding maintenance with them or the other HOA board members. Exhaust all forms of communication and attend board meetings to have them address your concerns. If they do not help, you may opt to remove the problem board member(s) according to the procedures outlined in the Washington Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act Section 64.90.520.
