Violations for Cars Parked on a Public Road Beside Homeowner Property

Question:

I need help and advice. I recently received HOA “possible violation” for an unknown vehicle park on the street next to my house. After disputing the claim, the HOA representative marked the violation as resolved, and mentioned owners were responsible for those parked on their individually owned lots. The issue is that after reviewing the “plat” this vehicle was not within the property boundaries, but on a public road. I would like to know what are my options because more and more unknow vehicle are parking on this side of the road at any time of the day/night and I don’t want to always be the one getting a “possible violation”. I did also mention the safety concern and the fact that some of those individuals were littering, but nothing has been done in that regard. How can I have my voice heard on this matter? because i do have a family and am deeply concerned. Thank you.

Answer:

Hi George,

We suggest showing the Plat Map to your HOA board so they may understand that the cars are not parked within your property lines. As for safety and littering concerns, the HOA has no jurisdiction over public roads. For this, you may bring up the concern with your local government.
