Who Is Responsible for Condo Doors Outside?

Question:

the outside doors to my unit seem to have settled over the years, where air can enter ( gaps ) my question is tho’ i know the inside of my unit , should if and when go wrong, i pay for things myself, but , if doors leading into the unit need to be replaced, do i have to replace them myself does the HOA take care of that kind of situation, as it is outside the building….It seems it has gotten more noticeable lately. I need to know what to do before the weather gets cold…I am a senior and been living here, about going onto twenty years. thank you……There no managers or care takers on site here… Thank you. I live in Douglasville, Georgia

Answer:

Hi Louvain,

It depends on what your governing documents say. Check your CC&Rs, bylaws, and community plat to see who is responsible for repairing and maintaining outside doors. Contact your condo board for more information as well.
