Who Is Responsible for Pests in a Condo?

Question:

I own a condominium in Prince Georges County and the building is infested with rodents. The management company is only taking responsibility for the common areas. It is obvious that the rodents are in some of the units. I have paid a fee for a exterminator but the problem still arises in the building. I would like to know what action I may take to get assisted. This is senior community and several residents are being affected. The rodents are coming from somewhere. Please provide me with the proper steps I need to take. The management company is not taking responsibility.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Answer:

Hi Debra,

In general, unit owners are responsible for pest control within their own units, while the condo association is responsible for pest control in common areas.
