I’ve been going around in circles trying to decide whether to get full paint protection film on my new luxury SUV or just do the front end, and honestly every detailer I speak to gives me a different answer depending on what they think I want to hear, which is not helping at all. I understand the basic idea that the front bumper, hood, and mirrors take the most abuse from stones and debris, but I also worry about door dings from other cars in parking lots and the inevitable scratches that come from kids or shopping carts, which makes me think full coverage might be the way to go. The price difference is pretty significant though, we’re talking about maybe 6,000 to 7,000 AED for a partial front-end wrap versus upwards of 13,000 AED or more for a full body installation, so I really need to be sure it’s worth the extra investment before I commit. I’ve read that the film is around 8 mils thick, which is about five times thicker than ceramic coating, so it offers genuine impact protection rather than just chemical resistance, but do I really need that on the roof or the rear doors? I’ve also heard that having a visible line where the film ends can be a bit of an eyesore on certain paint colors, especially lighter ones, whereas a full wrap gives you that seamless invisible protection that you can’t even tell is there unless you’re looking closely. I was looking at a comparison that explained Full car PPF versus partial coverage which option suits your vehicle, and it broke down the pros and cons pretty well, but I’d still rather hear from people who actually made this decision and can tell me whether they regret going one way or the other. Has anyone here done partial PPF and wished they’d gone for the full wrap, or vice versa? I’m particularly keen to know about the practical realities like whether the edges of the film start to collect dirt over time, and whether the self-healing properties actually make a noticeable difference in day-to-day use. Any honest advice from people who’ve been through this would be massively appreciated because I’m completely torn and I need to make a decision soon.
