What is up everyone, I want to share something that completely changed how I understood my rights as a Texas renter with an emotional support animal. I had been dealing with a difficult landlord situation in Dallas for months and I genuinely thought I was out of options. My apartment had a no pets policy and my new property manager was making it very clear that my dog was not welcome regardless of how important he was to my daily wellbeing.
A friend told me about the Fair Housing Act and suggested I look into getting a legitimate ESA letter. I did a lot of research because I had seen so many sketchy websites promising instant approvals and official registrations and I wanted to make sure I went through a process that would actually hold up. I ended up working with My ESA Therapist which has a strong presence serving Texas residents and connects you with licensed mental health professionals who are actually credentialed in the state.
The evaluation was thorough and genuine. The therapist I spoke with took the time to understand my situation and the letter she provided covered everything required by law. When I submitted it to my property manager they could not legally reject it under the Fair Housing Act. If you are a Texas renter who has been told your pet is not welcome please know that a legitimate ESA letter changes the entire conversation and My ESA Therapist is a trustworthy place to start that process.
