I’ve got a 2015 A3 with the S-Tronic gearbox and over the past few months it’s developed this really annoying jerk when pulling away from a standstill, especially when the engine is cold and I’m trying to maneuver in parking lots. It feels like the clutch is engaging and disengaging roughly, and sometimes there’s a noticeable shudder that makes the whole car feel like it’s hesitating before it finally moves off properly. I’ve been reading up on DSG issues and I’m absolutely terrified that the mechatronics unit is failing, which I know is a seriously expensive repair that can easily run into five figures if you’re not careful. I’ve already done a transmission fluid change about 10,000 kilometers ago and it didn’t seem to make any difference, which makes me think it’s more of an internal problem rather than just old fluid. I really don’t want to go to the dealer because their prices are astronomical, but I also don’t want to take it to a random garage that doesn’t have the proper diagnostic tools for these complex gearboxes. I’ve been looking for an affordable Audi garage in ICAD because I work in that industrial area and it would be convenient to drop the car off during the week, but I’m not sure if these places actually have the expertise to deal with DSG repairs properly. Has anyone had the mechatronics unit replaced or repaired on their Audi, and did you manage to find a shop that did it for a reasonable price without cutting corners? I’m honestly losing sleep over this because I know it’s only going to get worse, and I really can’t afford a massive repair bill right now. Any advice or recommendations would be massively appreciated.
