Our Board is seeking ideas from our community to develop strategies for our future. In the era of social media, we seek ways to bring members together face-to-face and gain input to help develop our strategies for the future. One idea is to form a new Committee along these lines. We want to expand the Charter to bring in community members to participate and to interact with each other. A couple of thoughts: advertise, advertise, advertise to the members; offer a “Topic of the Month” to draw members in. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like you need a social committee. We have one and they do all sorts of things! Aside from the usual party planning, we also do round tables (sort of like open forums) and an idea exchange gathering. They also run our social pages, and we have monthly participation activities there. Sometimes, they organize a friendly online contest – like asking people to come up with a funny caption for a photo. There are no actual prizes except for featuring them in our newsletter.

In addition to the suggestions above, you should also revamp your social media pages. Make sure they all align and look cohesive. Looks can go a long way. People are gonna want to engage more if they feel like the HOA is being managed properly, and that comes with good aesthetics as well.
