With things settling down a bit, are your HOAs going back to face to face meetings or sticking with Zoom? We’re thinking about resuming face to face meetings but still unsure.

We went back to f2f meetings a long time ago! A lot of people still wear masks though… totally their choice.

Why resume physical meetings when virtual ones are just so much better? Attendance is higher, participation is higher, and the meetings are infinitely shorter – win-win for everyone!

Hi hoa_newbie,

It depends on where you live. Some states have allowed virtual meetings to continue, which means boards can conduct business via Zoom and other such platforms. One example is North Carolina. Of course, there are some rules and requirements you must follow. It’s best to check your state laws on this to avoid liability.

For us, it was harder to agree on a date for face-to-face meetings. Virtual meetings are still a bit hard to schedule but definitely easier than before. We’re never going back.

What do you prefer, OP? Remote meetings work better for some HOAs but not for others. It’s probably best to go hybrid, though, since some association business can’t be done virtually.

I manage a community with mostly seniors so virtual meetings were generally more difficult since not everyone here knows how to work with gadgets. Best to consider your membership too when you make this decision.
