lookign to leave my hoa because its really not for me – dont wanna pay the fees and i dont really care for any of the so called ‘benefits’ or whatever. hoa says not possible to leave but i feel like their just making that up. would really apprechiate the help thanks.

Hey rigby88! I’m afraid there’s no way to leave an HOA without physically moving out and selling your home. Unfortunately, this is true for most HOA’s, so I don’t think your HOA is making it up.

well i know for a fact that my neighbor doesnt pay fees so why is that?

Perhaps your neighbor has already defaulted on his/her assessments. I suspect foreclosure or litigation is in the cards for him/her.

I get why you would want to get out of your home owner’s association but like anna said you can’t really leave if you don’t sell your house and go. Dues are typically a small price to pay as my experience with home owner’s associations has been pretty good.

I know someone who left their HOA without needing to move. Membership wasn’t mandatory in the first place, so all they had to do was sign something and that was it. But they couldn’t use any of the HOA’s stuff anymore like the pool or anything like that.
