We are a neighborhood of 68 homes in a rural community of Texas. The builder established an HOA and hired a management company. This past year the homeowners have taken over the board since now we out vote the builder. We are less than thrilled with the job of this management company. Response time is extremely delayed. Marked many of our yearly dues late because of a clerical error on their end and it was pulling teeth to get them to refund peoples money. Our contract is up in February of 2025. My question is how can we move to a different management company? How big of a headache will it be to take on this transition? A good portion of our residents want out of having an HOA altogether however it was written in our bylaws we must have an HOA for at least 10 years. If anyone has gone through a similar situation I would love to hear how it went. Any advice or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

    Hi Jules,

Changing management companies can be very stressful, but it’s worth it if your current one is unsatisfactory. You will only suffer in the long run if you stick with them.

There’s a great article on here that outlines the steps on how you can switch management companies: https://www.hoamanagement.com/how-to-change-hoa-management-company/

    Hope this helps.
