Starting an HOA is no joke. Be prepared to take on all the responsibilities and obligations that come with it. It’s going to involve a lot of paperwork and legal processes. Make sure you get the support you need from everyone in your community (everyone who’s joining) and that they know what they’re getting into. If you don’t have common spaces to maintain, I don’t see why you would need (or want) to start an HOA in the first place. It seems like you’ve gone years without it.

I agree. Here’s another tip: source your companies from other communities in your area. Ask for recommendations or referrals. Those are companies you can trust because they’ve proven their reliability and quality of services. Good luck.

Hey, if they ain’t harming nobody and the owners don’t care, I don’t see why you can’t just let the squatters live there. Seems like they can take better care of the property.

Thanks for your response! Thats a good idea. I will suggest having monthly meetings and see if it works out for us.

Thats the thing – our bylaws are pretty vague and only say we should have them – doesnt say how often.

Different states have different privacy and video surveillance laws. You might want to check with a lawyer.
