Security cameras are a tricky issue… If your cameras are pointed towards a neighbors window or lawn, then it could be considered a violation of privacy laws… Maybe a neigbor complained and thats why your board found out about the cameras and made you take them down…

You can file a lawsuit in small claims court. Maybe a judge will allow you to shave their wages until they repay their debt to the association.

If crime prevention and security are your main concerns… might I suggest swapping out the gates for security cameras instead? Having CCTVs in all of your entryways can help deter crime without the need to convert public streets into private ones.
